AlaskaJoe's Tips
Add Program To Start Menu
If you have a program that you want on the
Start menu,
simply left-click and hold the program's icon and drag it
to the Start button. Don't let the button go. Within
seconds, the Start Menu will open, and you can drag the
program or file. Release the Mouse button. Now click to different menus and sub
menus until you find the right spot and drag your program to its new home. Once
done, click the Start button to save your changes. To remove the program or
folder, simply right-click it and select Delete.

Send To
If you have several folders into which you
frequently save files, you can save some time by adding these folders to your
"Send To" list. Here's how this works: Within explorer, find and open the Folder
called "Send To" located in the Windows directory. Open a second Explorer
window, and find the folder to which you frequently copy data. Right-click and
drag this folder to the Send To folder and create a shortcut.
Close the Send To Explorer Window. Find and right-click a
file that you want to copy to the folder you just moved to "Send To." Open the
Send To menu, and you should see your folder in the list. Select this folder and
your file will automatically be moved to this location.

Send To: Part 2
I just talked about saving files using Send To. If
you want to access the Send To folder quickly, you can
either create a shortcut on your desktop or follow this
simple procedure. Click the Start menu; Select Run; Type "SendTo" (all one
word--no quotes) in the box and press Enter. The Send To folder should now
appear on your desktop.

Windows Update
When downloading updates to Windows from Microsoft, it is always best to close all applications and programs and allow the update to be the only running program. This way the opportunity for conflicts with the update process is minimized. It is also a good idea to turn off your virus scanner. After the update has completed, even if not required, reboot your computer. Then turn your virus software back on and scan your system.
