AlaskaJoe's Tips
Save Some Space
Whenever you install a new program or download updates, the installation procedure will often place a 'readme.txt' file onto your hard drive. Unless you plan on needing the file in the future for reference, delete it. One note: Before deleting the readme files, read them.

Cleaning Up The Registry

When installing and uninstalling programs, Windows will
update the Registry to contain information as dictated by
the installed software. When uninstalling software,
however, these programs will sometimes leave a mess in your registry when they exit.

Fortunately, there are many third-party products available
that will clean up your registry for you and remove that unwanted junk. Having said that, some products (virus software is the worst offender) leave junk all over the registry to such a degree that complete removal is almost impossible. If you're suffering from such a problem, contact the manufacturer of the offending software for specific instructions.
